Dealing with Anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling that we all experience at some point in our lives. Worrying about potential future outcomes such as starting a new job, sitting an exam, or the rising cost of bills can cause us to feel anxious and stressed. For most people the feeling of anxiety will subside once whatever you were worried about is resolved.

However, speaking from personal experience, the feeling of anxiety can be absolutely crippling.  For me even coping with the simplest day to day tasks such as getting out of bed, thinking of what to have for breakfast, getting a shower or putting my clothes on can seem terrifying, impossible, and absolutely exhausting.

The dread in the pit of your stomach, the tingling in the arms and chest as well as a rapidly beating heart are all symptoms which I have experienced first-hand and they are terrifying.

I want to share some of my personal coping strategies which have helped me to deal with my anxiety along with some of my go to products which have helped to ease some of the symptoms mentioned above.

Music

I have a Spotify Playlist of powerful, motivating songs to remind me that I have done this many times before, got through it, came out the other end stronger and happier for it.

Embroidery

Crafting it is a wonderfully relaxing, mindful activity and it helps to take my mind off any worries I may have. Stitching is a daily Self Care for me, my embroidery bag goes with me when I go away, when I go out for a day and it's the first thing I pick up when I get home!

Here are some of my favourite patterns…
